------------------
The Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications (COMAP) is looking for
a few good secondary math teachers to review one unit of its revised
edition of "Mathematics: Modeling Our World"; a reform-based integrated
secondary math curriculum developed with funding from the National Science
Foundation (NSF). COMAP is a non-profit organization committed to improving
mathematics education.
COMAP is seeking secondary math teachers to give their comments on:
-Mathematical concepts
-Ease of implementation in the classroom
-Student interest
-Contemporary applications
-Correlation to state frameworks and state assessment tests
-Mathematics textbook selection consideration
Please note that they are not looking for field-testing or grammatical
editing; they want to gather teacher's reactions to the content, flow, and
ease of implementation. A list of questions will be provided to interested
teacher reviewers.
In exchange for reviewing unit one of the textbook, (approximately 44
pages), COMAP will be happy to extend one year's free membership. This
membership is valued at $45 and includes a quarterly subscription to "The
Consortium newsletter", and permission to download and reproduce for
classroom use COMAP supplemental print materials. For more information on
COMAP and its products, please visit http://www.COMAP.com.
If you would like to participate please contact Anne Sterling at
800-772-6627 x37 or via email at a.sterling@comap.com. They would
appreciate receiving teacher reviews by August 31, 2002.
